The main character of the manga.  His first name means "to play" in Japanese.  his grandfather, Sugoroku Mutou, runs the Kame ("Turtle") game store, which sells stange and interesting games.  Normally he's a nice guy-even a pushover-until his other persoonality, the Dark Yugi, takes over.

 

Yugi's classmate and childhood friend.  Her first name means "apricot" in Japanese.  In the English anime she's known as "Tea Gardner."

Rich, spoiled, and intelligent, Kaiba is a master of the card game "Magic and Wizards."  He owns tens of thousands of cards and competes in national tournaments.  His name means "seahorse" in Japanese.
